2009 BMX National Champs- Easter weekend April 10-12

26th April 2009

What a huge event, over 800 of the country’s best Riders staged over the three days.

The recently completed “World Class” BMX track located at Whangarei’s Pohe Island was picture perfect and very fast all weekend. the surface preparation was awsome and so was the weather over the three days. I couldn’t wait to unleash the new ABD bikes.

I was entered in the 35-39 male 24’’Cruiser class and the 30-39 male 20’’.

I made the semi-final for the 24"Cruiser, qualifying 13th from the heats. I needed to finish in the top four to move onto the final. I had a bad start and got squeezed into the first corner. I ended up finishing in 5th place.

I had qualified 7th through the heats to make the final in the 20"class. I had lane 4 in the final, perfectly positioned right in the centre of the track I went into the race with a point to prove.

FINAL RESULTS

30- 39 male 20"Class Ranked N.Z #04
35- 39 male 24"Cruiser Class Ranked N.Z #10

These results have qualified me to go to the 2009 World Chamionships in Adelaide July 19-26. An opportunilty I had only dreamed of.

Thanks again to Paul, Tracey and the crew from AvantiPlus Whangarei, for allowing me to reach a new level.

Keep in touch for the updates

Thanks

Rowan
