Awesome performances by junior riders at Northland Champs/ Hell of the North
I was so proud of all the Marsden Wheelers Juniors who competed in the race on Sunday. All rode better than I have seen them ride before - all those hard intervals in training paid off. There were lots of flying legs on the downhills as they kept up riding their agegroup restricted gears.
35km – David Owens 1st U15 male (4th overall) 1:22:35 and new rider Grace Seeley U19 Female (5th overall) 1:26:42
70km – Ben Johnstone 1st overall 2:06:29 from Coach Jonathan by 2 secs. Ben chose to race longer than his agegroup distance and was impressive. Ben and JJ were 10 minutes ahead of the next rider as they battled all the way.
70km – William Arnold 1st U17 male (4th overall) 2:18:29, Josh Rodgers 2nd U17 male (8th overall) 2:25:37
70km – Alice Riddell 1st female overall and 1st U17 female (9th overall) 2:25:46
105km – Matthew Markby – 1st U19 male (5th overall) 3:04:34

Do not give up when you find that you have to suffer greatly in order to get results. Never forget that winners are the ones who can suffer best. – Charles Ruys – aussie coach
