Next update from Denmark
Hi to everyone
I guess you are all getting geared up for a night in front of the telly, maybe not all of you.
I am still enjoying the food and company of other athletes, we are making our lunch from the breakfast buffet so other than dinner we aren’t spending much on food.
I was really enjoying riding the course untill the day before race day, it was so windy and wet, i got awfully cold, another puncture, so i have now wreaked 2 200 dollar tyres. Buggar
Lucky race day the weather was a bit kinder to us, however i did forget my aero helmet so there was a mercy dash by a staff member to come back at get it from the motel.
I felt really good all morning before my race and on the start line if was ready as i have ever been. I felt the cold on my lungs early on but got into a rhythem and just went for it. Jono said to keep my power up at a certain wattage i was always pushing for more. I managed a new power average PB for me a 6th place. I’m so happy with that, there are a few new riders out there including a x pro mountainbike rider from Germany who i managed to beat by 6 minutes. The australian who passed my in sydney was only 15 seconds ahead instead of 2 minutes.
I’m just getting stronger and can’t wait to get back on the veledrome this year.
I had a good massage and ate heaps to recover for the road race tomorrow, today is just a cruisy ride around Roskilda where we are staying, might go for a hot chocolate some where and have a nap as i had next to no sleep last night.
I really hope you are all well at home.
Big hugs
Fi
About Fiona Southorn
I am very proud and honored to be sponsored by Avanti Plus Whangarei, Tracey and Paul have been a tremendous help during my campaign to get my bikes up to speed for the Beijing Olympics. I’m riding the Avanti Crono on the road and Avanti Pista on the track. Their generosity has been the best I have ever encounted, staff are friendly and happy to help and are always interested in my racing and results.
