09 Northland Secondary School Road Cycling Championships

Age Groups: Under 15, Under 17, under 20 - Boys and Girls (Age as at 31 December 2009)

1. 6.3km time trial (Individual timed ride) all age groups – 6.3km. Start at 1 minute intervals. Start at corner Heaton Road and Riponui Road ½ hour after race briefing.
2. Road race (riders start together in each category) Starts 15 minutes after the last rider finishes the time trial.
• Under 20 boys and girls - 2 laps of circuit (27.5 km)
• Under 17 boys and girls – 2 laps (27.5 km)
• Under 15 boys and girls – 1 lap (13.7 km)
• MTB/New riders (non championship event) 1 lap of circuit (13.7km)
Riders can do one event but are not eligible for overall honours. Championship medals will be given to the first two male and female riders in each age group who have the fastest combined time trial and road race time. Marsden Wheelers Trophies to fastest overall boy and girl. Spot prizes donated by Avanti Plus Whangarei.
The prize giving will be held after the finish of racing.
Rules:
-Road or mountain bikes may be used.
-All bikes must have safe tyres and front and rear brakes.
-All riders must wear a correctly fastened bicycle helmet.
-No aero bars are to be used in the time trial or the road race.
-Gear limits will not be applied.
-The roads will be open to traffic so road rules must be obeyed at all times.
How to get there: From SH 1 turn west onto Jordon Valley Road for 7km until you reach the roundabout. Jordon Valley Road is 500m from the south road entrance into Hikurangi.
There will be a portaloo but no changing facilities. Please bring your own water and food.
