“THE HURT BOX”

WHAT IS IT?
The Hurt Box is a 15km time trial done on a wind trainer. The idea is to go fast as you can for 15km and then have your time recorded.
Your time will then be placed on a leader board where you will be able to make comparisons between yourself and people that you know and ride with.
For those people who watch the TV programme Top Gear, it’s the same concept as “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” segment that they do in the show.

WHATS THE FORMAT?
The 15km will be done in-store at AvantiPlus Whangarei during the week of Mon 20th July – Sat 25th July, to coincide with the final week of The Tour De France.
Riders will bring their own bikes and use the same Cateye CS1000 trainer (supplied by us)
The 15km will then be supervised by a staff member from the store.
Riders will need to book in for the attempt and will be given 1 hour slots so that there is ample time for a proper warm-up. It can be done anytime during our opening hours.

WHY?
This idea is purely based on “fun” and the idea is for each person to see how they fear against the clock.

WHO?
Anyone with a road, fitness or time trial bike! It doesn’t matter if you’re a social rider or a potential Tour Champion, we encourage everyone to come and enjoy the experience.

COST?
We will be asking for a gold coin donation. This money will be collected over the week and then distributed between local young riders through The Marsden Wheelers.

IS THERE A PRIZE?
Too right, at the end of the week, we will randomly select one person who will win a $200 AvantiPlus Gift card.
There is no prize for being the fastest rider-just the associated bragging rights and the fear that you will inspire in other riders!!

CELEBRITY RIDER
Our very own Sam Warriner will start proceedings at 9am Monday so you can come and watch Sam then compare yourself with her time.

FINALLY
So sessions start on the 20th July. All the staff from AvantiPlus Whangarei will complete the 15km and there times will be up for you to gauge off.
